4.2.2. Cross-border use – conditions: Any departure from Romania with the vehicle is conditional upon: (a) a Cross-Border Authorization Agreement (ATF) signed by both parties, explicitly listing the authorized countries and period; (b) payment or confirmation of coverage for all additional costs (supplementary insurance, country-specific vignettes/road tolls, etc.); (c) additional security deposit per art. 3.5.4. Cross-border use costs are NOT included in the price displayed on the website and will be communicated to the Client in writing, separately, before booking confirmation.
4.2.3. External vignettes and road tolls: Before any departure from Romania, RENTADVENTURE.RO will verify and, where applicable, purchase the mandatory vignettes/road tolls for the authorized countries (e.g. Bulgaria e-vignette/BGTOLL, Hungary Matrica/NÚSZ, Austria vignette/ASFINAG, etc.), the cost of which will be charged to the Client. The vehicle will not be released for departure without confirmation that all applicable road tolls for the declared route are covered. The Client may not purchase or supplement vignettes without RENTADVENTURE.RO's written consent.
4.2.4. Geofencing and unauthorized departure: Vehicles are equipped with active GPS tracking. The system automatically generates an alert when the vehicle approaches within 10 km of Romania's border. Any departure from Romania without a valid Cross-Border Authorization constitutes a serious contractual breach and entails: (a) full forfeiture of the deposit; (b) immediate termination of the agreement; (c) RENTADVENTURE.RO's right to remotely disable the vehicle; (d) the Client bearing full responsibility for all fines, vignettes, charges and recovery costs incurred outside the authorized zone.
4.2.5. RENTADVENTURE.RO reserves the right to refuse requests to use the vehicle in certain countries or geographic areas that present safety, legal or operational risks (e.g. conflict zones, countries without adequate insurance coverage, countries with high vehicle seizure risk). 4.5.2. Transporting pets is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in all RENTADVENTURE.RO vehicles. Breach of this prohibition will incur a cleaning/disinfection fee of minimum 150 EUR and may result in immediate termination of the agreement.
4.6. Child Seats

4.9.1. Any breakdown must be reported immediately to RENTADVENTURE.RO.
4.9.2. Any repair to the vehicle will be carried out exclusively by RENTADVENTURE.RO or partner garages designated by the company. The Client has no right to take the vehicle to any workshop, garage or mechanic of their own choosing, regardless of circumstances.
4.9.3. In the event of vehicle immobilisation (breakdown, accident), the Client must immediately notify RENTADVENTURE.RO and await the company's instructions before any technical intervention. Costs of repairs carried out without the company's consent will not be reimbursed and may incur additional penalties.
4.10. Accidents
4.10.1. In the event of an accident, the Client must stop immediately, notify authorities and RENTADVENTURE.RO and complete all required legal forms.
4.10.2. The following are mandatory: police report, photographs and witness details.

4.10.4. For minor damages covered by CASCO, only the deposit (500 EUR) will be retained.
4.11. Theft
4.11.1. In the event of theft, the Client must immediately notify the Police and RENTADVENTURE.RO.
4.11.2. Full liability rests with the Client if: keys are lost or left unattended; documents were in the vehicle; anti-theft systems were not activated; no police report was filed.
4.12. Return Obligation
4.12.1. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition in which it was received, clean and with a full tank.
4.12.2. Otherwise, fuel and cleaning charges apply (50 EUR + 100 EUR).
4.12.3. Rented equipment (bicycles, bike rack, video projector, tent, refrigerator, table, chairs, etc.) must be returned complete and in good working order. Missing or damaged items will be charged at full replacement value, plus 50 EUR/item for replacement effort.
4.13. Loss of Right to Use
4.13.1. RENTADVENTURE.RO may request immediate return of the vehicle in the event of breach of contractual obligations.
4.13.2. Recovery and transport costs are borne by the Client.
4.14. GPS Monitoring
4.14.1. All RENTADVENTURE.RO vehicles are equipped with active GPS tracking devices. Real-time location is used exclusively for operational purposes (vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, verification of compliance with the contractual usage zone). Location data is processed in accordance with GDPR and the company's privacy policy.
4.14.2. Disabling, covering or any interference with GPS devices constitutes a serious contractual breach and results in full forfeiture of the deposit, immediate termination of the agreement and possible legal action.
4.15. Use of Rented Equipment
4.15.1. The rooftop tent must be used in accordance with the instructions provided.
4.15.2. It is prohibited to climb on the vehicle roof without properly deploying the tent.
4.15.3. The Client is fully responsible for any damage to rented equipment: rooftop tent, refrigerator, table, chairs, bicycles, bike rack, video projector or any other accessories specified in the handover report.
4.15.4. Missing or damaged items will be charged at full replacement value, plus 50 EUR/item for replacement effort.
5. Liability, Insurance and Damage Limitation
5.1. Coverage and Collision Coverage
5.1.1. Definition of Collision Coverage: The Collision Coverage package covers the full cost of repair or replacement of the vehicle, applicable exclusively to traffic incidents (accidents, collisions, damage caused by external factors to the vehicle) that have been officially reported to the Police and for which a criminal investigation file or a police report issued by law enforcement authorities exists. Collision Coverage does NOT cover unreported events, tyre punctures, damage to the windscreen/rear window/side windows occurring independently of a traffic accident, or any other event explicitly excluded in section 5.4.
5.2. Client Liability for Damages
5.2.1. In the event of a traffic incident (collision, accident) officially reported to the Police, with a criminal investigation file or police report, RENTADVENTURE.RO will not charge the 100 EUR/element fee and will initiate the CASCO recovery procedure. The deposit may be temporarily retained for the duration of the claim settlement. The 100 EUR/element fee (art. 5.3) applies EXCLUSIVELY to body damage caused by negligence or misuse that is NOT the result of a traffic incident reported to the Police.
5.2.2. The Client bears full (unlimited) liability if: driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or prohibited medication; leaving the scene of the accident without police authorisation; failing to notify RENTADVENTURE.RO of the incident; driving off public roads; allowing unauthorised persons to drive; causing intentional damage; failing to return original keys in the event of theft.
5.3. Body Damage at Return – Fee per Element
5.3.1. The 100 EUR/element fee applies EXCLUSIVELY to body damage (scratches, dents, creases, deformations) caused by negligence or misuse that is NOT the result of a traffic incident reported to the Police per art. 5.1.1. This is the only charge for such damage — repair costs are not added. This fee does NOT apply to: tyres, windscreen, rear window, side windows, exterior plastic parts or interior elements.
5.3.2. "Element" means any technically and visually distinct body panel, including but not limited to:
- front left wing;
- front right wing;
- rear left wing;
- rear right wing;
- front left door;
- front right door;
- rear left door;
- rear right door;
- bonnet;
- tailgate / boot lid;
- front bumper;
- rear bumper;
- left exterior mirror;
- right exterior mirror;
- left sill;
- right sill;
- roof;
- wheel arch cover.
5.3.3. The 100 EUR/element fee is the only amount charged for body damage found at return (scratches, dents, creases) that is not the result of a police-reported traffic incident. Repair costs are not added. If the incident was reported to the Police and falls under Collision Coverage per art. 5.1.1, the per-element fee does NOT apply.
5.3.4. Assessment of damaged elements is carried out by RENTADVENTURE.RO or an authorised service, based on the inspection at return or within 48 hours.
5.4. Exclusions from CASCO and Collision Coverage
5.4.1. CASCO insurance and the Collision Coverage package do NOT cover:
- damage caused by engine overheating;
- tyre punctures (including cuts or bursts), unless directly resulting from a police-reported traffic accident;
- cracking, breaking or damage to windscreen, rear window or side windows, unless directly and provably resulting from a police-reported traffic accident;
- rim damage (caused by kerbs, potholes, uneven terrain), unless resulting from a reported accident;
- upholstery or interior damage not resulting from an accident;
- loss of keys or documents;
- damage during towing or pushing other vehicles;
- damage to rented equipment (tent, refrigerator, table, chairs) or other rented accessories (bicycles, bike rack, video projector, other accessories).
5.4.2. In the situations listed at 5.4.1., all costs are borne entirely by the Client, regardless of the chosen package.
5.5. Excess and Security Deposit
5.5.1. An excess equal to the deposit value (500 EUR) applies to each insured event.
5.5.2. For CASCO-covered damages, RENTADVENTURE.RO will retain the deposit until the insurer finalises the claim.
5.5.3. If the insurer rejects the claim due to the Client's non-compliance, all repair costs are borne by the Client.
5.6. Total Loss
5.6.1. "Total loss" is declared when repair costs exceed 75% of the vehicle's market value.
5.6.2. In the event of a total loss caused by the Client, the Client owes the difference between the vehicle's market value and the insurer's compensation.
5.6.3. If the total loss is not attributable to the Client (e.g. caused by an identified third party), no additional costs apply.
5.7. Accident Procedure
5.7.1. In the event of an accident, the Client must:
- stop immediately and secure the scene;
- notify authorities and RENTADVENTURE.RO within 2 hours;
- not admit fault without the company's consent;
- obtain a police report;
- submit photographs and documents within 24 hours.
5.7.2. If official documents are missing, RENTADVENTURE.RO may hold the Client fully responsible for damages.
5.8. Theft Procedure
5.8.1. In the event of theft, the Client must: immediately inform the Police and RENTADVENTURE.RO; file a written police report within 24 hours; submit a copy of the report and the original keys.
5.8.2. If keys or the report are missing, full liability applies.
5.9. Liability towards Third Parties
5.9.1. RENTADVENTURE.RO is not liable for damages caused by the Client to third parties.
5.9.2. The Client is personally responsible for all bodily, moral or material damage not covered by third party liability insurance (RCA).
5.10. Company's Right to Retain Funds
5.10.1. RENTADVENTURE.RO may deduct from the deposit any amounts owed for: repair of damages; payment of fines received post-return; administrative fees for file processing.
5.10.2. If costs exceed the deposit, the Client must pay the difference within 5 days of notification.
5.11. Company Liability
5.11.1. RENTADVENTURE.RO is liable exclusively for direct damages caused to the Client through proven intent or gross negligence.
5.11.2. The company is not liable for: minor technical faults not affecting safety; delays due to traffic, weather conditions or force majeure; inability to continue travel due to external causes.
6. Vehicle Return and Handover Procedure
6.1. Return Locations and Hours
6.1.1. Vehicles must be returned to the locations agreed with RENTADVENTURE.RO, within the timeframe specified in the Agreement.
6.1.2. Returns are permitted exclusively between 06:00 and 24:00.
6.1.3. Returns outside these hours require prior written approval and may incur additional charges.
6.2. Handover Procedure
6.2.1. Upon return, a handover report will be completed in the presence of a RENTADVENTURE.RO representative. The report may also be completed in digital format, and photographs and/or videos of the vehicle and all rented equipment must be attached as mandatory annexes to the document.
6.2.2. The vehicle is considered officially returned only after this report is signed.
6.2.3. If a company representative is not present, the Client must provide clear photographs (all sides, interior, fuel gauge, odometer reading).
6.2.4. RENTADVENTURE.RO reserves the right to inspect the vehicle within 48 hours of return and to charge for any damage discovered subsequently.
6.3. Vehicle Condition at Return
6.3.1. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition in which it was received – clean, undamaged and with a full tank.
6.3.2. Engine washing, concealing damage or cosmetic interventions before return are prohibited.
6.3.3. Any new damage will be subject to inspection and deduction from the deposit.
6.4. Fuel and Cleaning
6.4.1. The vehicle must be returned with a full tank.
6.4.2. Otherwise, the Client will be charged for the missing fuel plus a service fee of 50 EUR.
6.4.3. Excessive dirt (mud, sand, food residue, stains) incurs a cleaning fee of 100 EUR.
6.5. Accessories and Rented Equipment
6.5.1. Vehicles must be returned with all rented equipment and accessories complete (tent, refrigerator, table, chairs, tools, cables, bicycles, bike rack, video projector, etc.).
6.5.2. Missing or damaged equipment will be charged at full replacement value plus 50 EUR/item for the procurement and replacement effort.
6.5.3. RENTADVENTURE.RO may temporarily retain part of the deposit until the exact costs are determined.
6.6. Early and Late Return
6.6.1. In the event of early return, unused days are not refunded, except in cases of force majeure or technical defects not caused by the Client.
6.6.2. Delays up to 59 minutes are not charged.
6.6.3. Delays between 1 and 24 hours incur the daily rental rate as an additional charge.
6.6.4. Delays of more than 24 hours without notification constitute unauthorised possession, entitling RENTADVENTURE.RO to recover the vehicle by legal means.
6.7. Loss of Keys or Documents
6.7.1. Loss of keys or documents implies reimbursement of replacement and administrative costs.
6.7.2. Typical replacement costs: Key: 150–400 EUR (depending on model); Documents: 100 EUR.
7. Fines, Road Charges and Penalties
7.1. General Liability Principle
7.1.1. The Client is solely responsible, throughout the entire rental period, for all traffic fines, road charges, parking fees, vignettes and any other financial obligations arising from the use of the vehicle, both in Romania and abroad.
7.1.2. Unpaid amounts may be deducted from the deposit, with written notice. If the total exceeds the deposit, the Client owes the difference within 5 working days of notification.
7.2. Speed, Radar and Traffic Fines in Romania
7.2.1. Legal procedure: Contravention liability for traffic offences (speed, traffic lights, seatbelt, etc.) is personal and belongs to the driver, not the vehicle owner. When RENTADVENTURE.RO receives a data communication request from the Traffic Police or Local Police (following a radar/camera detection), the company has a legal obligation to transmit the Client's identification data within the legal deadline (usually 5 days from receipt): copy of rental agreement, handover report, identity document and driving licence. As a result, the Police will issue the fine directly in the Client's name.
7.2.2. RENTADVENTURE.RO will promptly forward to the Client a copy of the request received and a notification that their data has been communicated to authorities.
7.2.3. Administrative fee per data communication file: 30 EUR. This fee will be automatically charged to the Client's registered card through RENTADVENTURE.RO's payment processor or, in the absence of a valid card, invoiced with a payment deadline of 5 working days from notification.
7.3. Road Tax (Rovinieta) and Bridge Toll (CNAIR) – Romania
7.3.1. Legal regime: Under Government Ordinance 15/2002, the fine for missing road tax (rovinieta) or unpaid bridge toll (e.g. Fetești) applies exclusively to the vehicle owner (the company registered on the vehicle registration certificate), not the driver. CNAIR/CESTRIN has no legal obligation to transfer the fine to the client's name based on a rental agreement.
7.3.2. RENTADVENTURE.RO will pay the fine promptly (benefiting from the 50% reduction within 15 days where applicable), after which it will recover from the Client the full amount paid plus an administrative fee of 50 EUR per case.
7.3.3. The Client is informed that road tax and bridge toll compliance is verified at vehicle return (via CNAIR platforms). If unpaid bridge tolls are found at return, the Client is required to pay the respective amounts on the spot.
7.3.4. Road tax/bridge toll fines arriving after vehicle return will be paid by RENTADVENTURE.RO and automatically recovered from the Client's registered card (through Stripe or equivalent, per the authorisation granted at art. 3.5.5), together with an administrative fee of 50 EUR per case. In the absence of a valid card, the amount is invoiced with a payment deadline of 5 working days. Amounts unpaid within the deadline accrue interest of 0.1%/day and may be transferred to a debt recovery agency.
7.4. External Vignettes and Road Tolls Abroad
7.4.1. Legal regime in the EU: In most EU member states (Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, etc.), fines for missing road tolls (matrica, e-vignette, Toll, etc.) are applied to the vehicle and its registered owner, not to the driver. Foreign authorities are not obliged to transfer liability based on a Romanian company's rental agreement.
7.4.2. Practical consequences: The fine will be transmitted by national systems (e.g. NÚSZ Hungary, BGTOLL Bulgaria, ASFINAG Austria) directly to RENTADVENTURE.RO through recovery partners or the Romanian Insurers Bureau (BAAR). Non-payment may lead to the vehicle being seized at a future border crossing in that country.
7.4.3. Recovery from Client: External vignette/road toll fines paid by RENTADVENTURE.RO will be automatically recovered from the Client's registered card (through Stripe or equivalent, per art. 3.5.5), together with an administrative fee of 50 EUR per case. In the absence of a valid card, the amount is invoiced with a payment deadline of 5 working days. Amounts unpaid within the deadline accrue interest of 0.1%/day.
7.4.4. Prevention policy: Precisely to eliminate this risk, per art. 4.2.3, RENTADVENTURE.RO purchases external vignettes before departure and charges them to the Client. The Client may not refuse this procedure by stating the intention to purchase them independently.
7.5. Speed and Radar Fines in EU Member States (Cross-Border)
7.5.1. In the European Union, under Directive (EU) 2015/413 on cross-border exchange of information on road safety related traffic offences, authorities in any member state may query Romania's vehicle registration database (DRPCIV) for 8 categories of offences (excessive speed, seatbelt, drunk driving, traffic lights, mobile phone use, etc.).
7.5.2. The procedure is similar to Romania: the foreign authority identifies the company as owner and sends a data request. RENTADVENTURE.RO provides the Client's data (per the contractual mandate assumed by the Client upon signing), and the fine is sent directly to the Client's home address or by electronic mail.
7.5.3. Administrative fee per international data communication file: 50 EUR (versus 30 EUR for Romania, due to the complexity of the bilingual procedure and translation costs).
7.5.4. The Client expressly mandates RENTADVENTURE.RO to communicate their personal and contact data to any traffic authority in EU member states, for the sole purpose of identifying them as the perpetrator of traffic offences committed with the rented vehicle.
7.6. Parking Fines Abroad
7.6.1. Parking fines issued outside Romania are managed either by local authorities or by private parking management companies (e.g. Euro Parking Collection – EPC, Q-Park, Apcoa, etc.). Payment notifications may reach RENTADVENTURE.RO with delays of several months.
7.6.2. RENTADVENTURE.RO will forward the notification to the Client as soon as possible, together with payment instructions. The Client may pay directly or RENTADVENTURE.RO will pay urgently (to avoid penalties) and recover the amount automatically from the Client's registered card per art. 3.5.5, plus an administrative fee of 50 EUR per case.
7.6.3. If the Client does not respond within the notification deadline and there is a significant risk of additional penalties, RENTADVENTURE.RO will pay the fine urgently and recover it from the Client plus an increased administrative fee of 75 EUR per case, due to the urgency of processing.
7.6.4. If the fine was issued by a private company and the transfer process to the Client is impossible or extremely cumbersome (due to local legislation), RENTADVENTURE.RO will cover the amount and recover it in full from the Client by deduction from the deposit or civil action.
